Supplied new by Hoffmans of Sheffield at a cost of £5108 14s 1p to Mr John Oliveira on the 16th November 1967, this 250 CE has only had three previous owners from new, registered as SWJ 574 F, it stayed with first owner until 1986, when it was purchased at approximately 47000 miles by garage owner Michael Hibbs of Froggatt Edge Garage, near Sheffield who kept the car until 2010 when it was then purchased by Damon Parker at 52260 miles. At this time SS Motors of Weybridge carried out a comprehensive service which is detailed in the file. Damon Parker sold the Mercedes to the current owner in February 2015, following a very detailed inspection by Classic Assessments at a recorded mileage of 57064 miles. To date the mileage is recorded at being 58311 miles, shortly after purchase the Mercedes had work carried out on the exhaust system, and fuel filler seal, subsequently in 2017 the car received a service in our workshops. It has possibly one of the most complete histories that it has been our pleasure to view, from the original bill of sale, the Mercedes guarantee documents, the original green V.E. 60 registration document, the extensive invoices and bills for maintenance and repairs from 1967 to 1986, including the first owner’s driving licence, and MOT’s

This is an extremely well documented Mercedes convertible, with a vast amount of documentation covering the years since delivered new by Hoffmans. The mileage is verified, and the overall condition is extremely original as it has never been fully restored, only requiring attention to the body work as required over the years, the interior is original, the engine is matching numbers to the car, everything is fully documented, It is not a newly restored car, but has an honest patina of age and very good coach work not commonly found today, a car to be kept and enjoyed.

The body work and structure of the car has received an older restoration carried out by the first owner in 1982, a professional restoration was carried out, and included replacing wings and panels to a cost in excess of £4000, the invoice and body panels replaced are detailed in the history file. The bodywork was kept in good order by the first owner, as the earlier invoices confirm . Some thirty-six years have elapsed since the car was repainted, however only some 13000 miles have been covered, as such the bodywork has proven to be stable, with no further rust or deterioration being evident, aside from one or two small areas which have been touched in due to use. The underside of the car has been well protected from the elements by a comprehensive underseal, and the car was waxoyl’d in 2010.

The interior is in very good overall condition with minor stress marks to the driver’s seat, with good carpets which could well be original, and the blue duck hood which is in very good condition, and looks extremely smart when down.

The Mercedes has a full service history identified by Hoffmans invoices, and other accounts during the period 1967 to 1985, every bill appears to be methodically kept providing an extremely good insight into the cars early service history and care. After the car was sold to the proprietor of Froggatt Edge Garage, after limited use by the previous owner, it no doubt continued to be cared for under their ownerships, as the inspectors report in 2015, can find no major fault with the car. The engine runs extremely well, the automatic gearbox changes without fault and the brakes again work without fault, in addition to work carried out in recent years, it is also evident that the rear suspension has been serviced in recent years as certainly one of the shock absorbers have been replaced and all rear suspension rubbers are again in good condition. The mechanical history of the car is well supported by; Original Bill of sale, Mercedes Guarantee and PDI Original V.E.60 , MOT History from 1976 to 2015 Bills and invoices from new to 1986 plus intermediate and recent work Original MB pack with driver’s handbook, MB literature
