TVR built the Griffith models between 1991 and 2002, with the 500 – as in this car - first appearing in 1993. This used a TVR-developed engine, based on the famous Rover V8 but now, at 5.0 litres, producing a claimed 340 bhp. When fitted in the lightweight, fibreglass-bodied sports car a top speed of 167mph was claimed and a 0-60mph time of 4.1 seconds.
The Griffith is a high-power, well-balanced car with huge performance on offer. It has been described in the press as ”ferociously quick and hairy of chest” but, despite this fearsome-sounding reputation, it can easily be driven around using just the ample torque from the V8 engine, as a relaxed cruiser.
This example has been with the current owner for some years, in which time he has spared no expense maintaining the car. There is good, documented history from 2004 on file, indicating the efforts spent in keeping the car as original as possible.

This is a fine example of a traditional, open-top, 2-door, 2-seat, lightweight sports car, fitted with a powerful V8 engine, giving sparkling performance with an un-mistakable exhaust note. It is in excellent condition and equally ready for long road trips or gentle weekend cruising.
The car is currently Guernsey registered and we would assist/advise with shipping and importing processes if required. We can ship worldwide.

Following the replacement of the chassis in 2013, the car was treated to a full respray, which included the original OZ seven-spoke alloy wheels, which were the original standard fitment.
The bodywork has subsequently been well kept and remains in excellent condition.

The leather interior is in very good condition but does shows a little wear on the seat cushions of both seats. The targa top is present and in excellent condition, as is the folding hood.
By way of minor improvement, an electric boot release has been fitted.

In 2013, and at considerable expense, the car was completely rebuilt with a new chassis, which included the renewal of many suspension components, together with engine mountings, 4 new brake disks and pads, hoses etc.
The car drives very well, with both the V8 engine and Borg Warner five-speed manual transmission functioning perfectly.
