Introduced in 1967 to replace the ‘Split Screen’ , the ‘Bay Window’ continued in production in Germany until 1979, changes in the model are expressed as Early, Crossover and Late Bays. Our model first registered in June 1971 is typical of the ‘Late Bay’ model. First registered new in Jersey as a nine seater mini bus, it was converted in 1979 to a well spec’d camper. The conversion carried out in 1979 resulted in the T2 being fitted with a ‘Rock & Roll’ bed, a two hob cooker, with grill, a six gallon water tank to sink with electric taps, plus an additional bunk and pop top.
Unusually it is a one owner vehicle since new, which has been cherished and maintained by it’s enthusiastic owner. Never driven over 55 MPH, it has always been garaged, annually maintained, it has toured Europe, and been an excellent holiday camper for the owner and his four children. Having covered some 126,794 miles from new, it is in remarkably good condition, it has the original engine, and has been continuously maintained throughout it’s life, it is a genuine one owner, RHD vehicle, in the original black, which has been kept in extremely good condition
The bodywork is in the original black, any areas or rust have been attended to, and one door has been replaced. Overall the Camper is in very good condition.
The custom interior was well designed, and is in very good condition, with everything working as it should. The interior is in burnt orange with the driver’s and front passenger compartment being in grey.
Regularly maintained and serviced In November 2018 the following work was carried out, 2 x new cylinder heads, push rod tubes & seals New Clutch, main engine oil seal, New Solex PIC 34 carburettor Front calipers and pads Rear wheel cylinders & brake shoes Flexible brake hoses Ball joint rubbers. As the records will show it has been serviced every 3000 miles, with a 12000 gearbox and transmission oil change.
