The 924 was developed by Porsche on behalf of Volkswagen as a potential flagship sports coupe for VW, who decided instead to develop a coupe based on the Golf. Porsche proceeded with the project alone and the Porsche 924 arrived in 1976, with a modified 2.0-litre power unit based on an existing Volkswagen/Audi engine, and initially built by Audi. Perhaps unfairly, this VW/Audi link gave rise to nicknames such as ‘Pauper’s Porsche’. The 924S arrived in 1985 with a detuned 2.5-litre engine from the Porsche 944 producing 148bhp, together with other elements from the 944 - brake system; chassis components (giving improved handling), as well as parts of the interior. This model represented a significant technical enhancement of the 924 model line. A Jersey-car from new in 1986, with only 2 previous owners.

The 924S is already seen as a collectable, yet affordable, historic Porsche model. This is a relatively rare, desirable sports car in good drivable condition, ready for regular use.

The body is straight, clean and presentable, but does show some minor marks and signs of age. The underside is solid with only a little surface corrosion visible. The pop-up headlights are fully functional with no problems. The car has the distinctive 924S-specific teledial five-hole alloy wheels, which are in good condition, together with recent new tyres.

The interior is complete and in good condition. Seats and carpets carry a couple of small age-related marks, there is some cracking to the dashboard top however. A period radio-cassette is fitted.

The car drives very well and has a solid feel on the road with few knocks or rattles. The engine revs freely maintaining good oil pressure and temperature and the autobox changes smoothly.
