Sebring International was founded in 1994 and set out to produce a range of open-top sports cars in the style of the classic Austin-Healey 3000, which had been built between 1959 and 1967. The company name derives from the Sebring International Raceway in the USA, where Austin-Healey cars were successfully campaigned. The brand was acquired in 2021 by the Vital Spark Group Ltd. and is now looking to produce electric-powered open-top sports cars. Sebring produced a number of different models reminiscent of the Healey 3000 using fibreglass bodywork based on their own design steel chassis. The MXR was their ‘top of the range’ model in respect of performance, visual appearance and trim options. This car was built in 2008 as Sebring’s own MXR show car and registered for road use in 2009. As such, it has had very limited use over the last decade prior to being imported to Guernsey in September 2020 and still only has 3,500 miles recorded – which can be backed up by the MOT history on file from 2012 to 2020.

The Sebring MXR is a hand-built blend of classic British sports car and American muscle – with awesome power and stunning performance. At the same time, in Sebring’s own words, it is “arguably more practical than a Cobra replica”, offering effortless high-speed cruising and can undertake long distance journeys in great comfort. This car is in excellent ‘ready to drive’ condition, having been well maintained and with only limited use in the past. The car is currently Guernsey registered, but the personalised Guernsey registration number is not included in the sale. We can assist with shipping and importation processes if required.

The bodywork is all GRP (double-skinned doors, bonnet & boot lid) mounted on a box section steel ladder frame. Whilst very close in appearance to the Austin-Healey 3000, the car sits noticeably lower to the ground and has flared wheel arches, giving it a much more aggressive stance. The metallic black paintwork is in excellent condition, as is all the brightwork and the 17" billet alloy wheels.

The luxurious cockpit is trimmed throughout in red leather and fully carpeted – all in first-class condition. A Momo steering wheel is fitted and the car has electric windows. The hood and tonneau cover are also in excellent condition. There is a detachable hard top with the car.

This is a high-performance vehicle, but with an emphasis on drivability. It is fitted with a high output, 5.7 litre Chevrolet small-block V8 using Edelbrock Pro-Flo fuel injection, running through a Tremec 5-speed manual gearbox. Whilst much of the running gear is Ford derived, elements of the suspension are bespoke to the Sebring package. This car has the additional benefit of custom-made, speed-sensitive, electric power steering.
