This low mileage Ford V8 was first registered in July 1950 as RHK 726, and was re-registered in Jersey following a detailed restoration. An excellent example of the post war Ford V8, which retains much of the original pre war styling, modified for the post war market., this is car which would prove ideal for Jersey Old Motor Club events. Price above includes UK importation duties and please note the car is currently located in our UK Dorset store.
Restoration work and a re-paint was undertaken by the previous owners brother (a paint sprayer by trade) prior to being registered in Jersey in 2000 and used proudly for island events and still in very good presentable condition.
Used sparingly over the last few years due to the owners ill health, however the car started easily and drove very well during its test with no issues apparent. Since coming in, we have just completed a bottom end overhaul, with reground crank, new bearings, new water pumps, new clutch and thrust bearing, together with a specialist restored gearbox.
The car retains the original leather seats and interior paneling, with the headlining being restored. The Bakelite dash board and instruments are a particular feature found on prewar American cars.
The Ford Pilot was manufactured at the famous Ford Dagenham Works between 1947 and 1951. Only 21487 units were built and the luxury Saloon featured standard equipment such as huge Butler chrome headlamps and a Clayton Dewandre heater. The Pilot also featured a Jackall jacking system, Bakelite dashboard, ashtray and steering wheel. The Pilot was the first large post-war British Ford. It was based on the pre-war 22 hp Model 62 chassis, and was initially offered with the 2227 cc side-valve engine from the 1939 model.[5] The engine was soon replaced with most Pilots were fitted with a more generously powered 3622 cc, 90 hp sidevalve V8 engine, having a stroke of 92.25 mm (3.6 in) and bore of 79 mm (3.1 in) with single Solex carburettor.
