Overview
Overall Comments

A very rare British GT – with supercar performance – with a very low mileage, having had limited use amongst just 3 owners who have maintained the vehicle in very good, original condition. Supplied with a copy of the original Lister delivery letter and brochure; Lister umbrella (unused) and bespoke indoor cotton car cover. The car is currently Jersey registered and we can assist with shipping and importation processes if required. We can ship worldwide.

Body

The car has unique bodywork – to improve aerodynamics and help achieve the astounding top speed claimed. The basic XJ-S body was extensively modified with revised bonnet, restyled rear buttresses and additional skirts and spoilers, all to better hug the ground. This Le Mans has special order black paintwork which is in very good condition.

Mechanical

The engine is a bit of a beast – with the Lister modifications providing massive torque and power to enable the potential 200 mph potential top speed and claimed 0-60mph time of 4.4 seconds. As might be anticipated, suspension and braking have been uprated accordingly. Larger alloy wheels were fitted as well.

Interior

The grey leather interior, together with carpeting, headlining etc. are all in first rate condition. A JVC radio/CD unit is installed with boot-mounted CD storage.

History

The Lister brand was revived in 1986 by new owner Laurence Pearce who, soon afterwards, started building heavily modified versions of the Jaguar XJ-S. Whilst some of these were conversions of stock V12-engined XJ-S models, the Lister Le Mans was sold as a new car and, although still based on the XJ-S, it is 4 inches wider and 2 inches longer than the standard Jaguar, providing – amongst other things- better accommodation for the rear seat passengers. It is powered by Lister’s own development of the Jaguar V12 engine, taken out 7 litres and producing a claimed 512 bhp and 500 lb/ft of torque, with a top speed of 200 mph. The engines were handbuilt and dyno tested.

There does not seem to be a definitive production figure, but it is thought a little over 30 Le Mans models had been built by the time production ceased in 1993.

This car was supplied new to its first owner in Jersey in March 1991 and has had just two subsequent keepers, the last from 2006. In its 30-year lifespan it has covered only a little over 10,000 dry-weather miles and has been kept in excellent original condition, maintained and always garaged.
