Overview
Overall Comments

An early post war MG TC with low mileage and still with many original features including the delightful nicely patinated original leather seats.

Body

Finished in Black with mellowed paintwork. The wood frame looks in excellent condition from underneath where visible and no signs of corrosion or repairs. Likely to be the original bodywork.

Mechanical

Aside from the works mentioned whilst in Europe and routine maintenance on the car whilst it has been in Jersey by a friend mechanic the TC has also had a new uprated steering box fitted. Also we have just overhauled the brake system (Nov 20) and undertaken a service. Now driving well and ready for its new owner.

Interior

Original Leather seats in a wonderful supple and patinated condition. Full weather gear comes with the car. Hood and side screen were replace by a previous owner not so long ago. The dash and instrumentation are in good order.

History

Sold to a Jersey resident in 2012 through auction in Paris. The auction catalogue description as follows which explains the MG's previous history; "This matching-numbers MG TC was sold new by Cleveland Garages in Jersey where it was purchased subsequently by a French motor dealer. Remembered as an exceptionally original and low mileage car, it then passed through the hands of two collectors before being purchased by international motoring consultant Christian Philippsen. It seems that the MG had covered relatively few miles over the years but the previous owner used the car more extensively, taking it over several Alpine passes including the Gabber and la Bonnette without encountering any problems, the engine remaining cool and retaining healthy oil pressure. The Musée International de l'Automobile in Geneva fitted the tachometer reduction gearbox and the shield beneath the dashboard, both of which had been missing, while other noteworthy features include a polished aluminium rocker cover and recently replaced hood, side screens and carpets. The present owner has driven the car no more than 500 miles during the last eleven years and always has kept it in a dry and heated garage. Its overall condition is described as very good, with delightful patina. For several years the owner belonged to the MG Car Club and was the Club's contact in Greece. This car is number '8850' on the MG Car Club's T Register. It is offered with FIVA A2 certificate (un-restored).
