A particularly smart and solid, genuine Minor Convertible in very good all-round condition and driving very well. The car is currently Guernsey registered and we can assist with shipping and importation processes if required. We can ship worldwide.
The underside of the car is solid with just a little light surface corrosion, where underseal has lifted. The bodywork is excellent with smart dark green paintwork, set off by cream wheels, grille and pinstripe, together with matching hood. All brightwork is in good condition. A set of modern flashing indicators have been fitted to supplement the original semaphores.
The engine bay is clean and tidy – a brake servo has been fitted as has what appears to be a relatively new wiring loom. The car runs and drives very well.
The interior is in excellent condition, clearly having had replacement seat covers, doorcards and carpets fitted in the recent past. Seatbelts have been added front & rear.
The iconic Morris Minor was in production for 23 years from 1948 until 1972, with 1.6 million sold. This famous and most British of family cars was the brainchild of Sir Alec Issigonis and available in 2 and 4-door saloon variants, a 2-door convertible, the Traveller estate car and commercial panel van and pick-up versions.
Available from the outset as a convertible (or Tourer), production spanned 3 series of cars - the Series MM, the Series II and the Minor 1000. The Minor 1000 series first appeared in 1956 with a major mechanical upgrade in the form of a new 948cc variant of the BMC A-Series engine with a heady 37 bhp on tap, mated to a revised gearbox and final drive, which endowed the car with better acceleration and top speed – now claimed to be 31.3 seconds (0-60 mph) and 75 mph respectively. Stylistically, the model was little changed, but did usefully gain a one-piece windscreen and larger rear window.
The Minor offered here is a genuine Convertible model from the early years of the Minor 1000 (also referred to as Series III), first registered new in the UK in December 1958. Whilst we have little in the way of detail regarding the cars history, it has clearly been the subject of extensive and thorough restoration work, with all aspects - mechanical, bodywork and interior having received attention.
