Sold as a non-running car for restoration, with original documentation, Austrian registration books confirming ownership history and year of manufacture, and original Opel Handbook. Most original and mostly complete with original badges and decals. If one chooses, a great candidate to leave as it is and put back on the road. As such, it would certainly be very eye catching and far less work than a complete restoration.
Complete and actually quite good. The underside is not so bad either. Some repairs and fabrication work would be recommended even if you were to decide to leave the exterior appearance pretty much as it is.
Looking intact and complete, but non-running. Certainly a fairly involved mechanical overhaul would be necessary prior to putting the car on the road again.
Original interior. Could be cleaned and left as is if required.
The Opel Olympia Rekord was introduced in March 1953 as successor to the Opel Olympia, a pre-World War II design dating back to 1935. The Olympia Rekord was built until 1957 in four different versions and around 580,000 units were produced. Styling of the 1953-54 sedans resembled scaled-down versions of contemporary Chevrolets in the U.S. - both marques were, of course, products of General Motors.
First registered in Austria in April 1955 to Baron Carl Ludwig Braun. The Opel was purchased in March 1977 by Franz Hacker, who moved to the UK in 1978 before settling in Jersey in 1993. Now unused for some years, it is nevertheless complete and being sold for restoration. The recorded mileage is 24,553 Km (15,344 miles).
