Founded in 1919, their reputation spread for building fine high quality motor cars such as the Speed 20 and 25, the Firefly, and the 4.3 litre (pre war). Post war models such as the TD 21, TE and TF models in saloon and convertible form were pitched at the higher end of the market with some bodies styled and built by Graber of Switzerland. These later Graber models are desirable today along with most of the pre war models. During the second world war Alvis turned their attention to the war effort by producing armaments and military vehicles and still do today.
We have undertaken extensive coachwork restoration to include new ash framework and aluminium panelling on an Alvis Speed 25 DHC by Charlesworth. Currently under restoration is a 1950 TB14, unsuccessfully produced to compete with the Jaguar XK. This particular Alvis is having a major restoration work paced out over several years. Alvis were a very well engineered and constructed vehicle, pitching them at the luxury end of the market. Today they have a keen and loyal following of enthusiasts and popularity is increasing for Pre war models especially in Continental Europe.
