Purchased by ourselves some years ago on ebay in a dismantled and derelict state this 1931 Swallow required complete restoration.
GK 5268 had the majority of the rare Swallow Coachwork components however the ash frame was completely shot as was the steel work.
More recently a very enthusiastic client bought the car from us and commissioned us to undertake the coachwork restoration. He would then complete the mechanical, refinishing, and assembly element of the restoration. Our brief was to keep as much of the original car as we could , and luckily we managed to re-use most of the original aluminium coachwork. Not so easy as a little like making a hand to fit a glove when it came to fitting the old aluminium to the new frame.
The work included the fabrication of a new ash frame some of the aluminium panels and new steel wings plus some hardware. A time consuming process!
